The Grandkids and my puppy, Thor, My #1 Reason to be Thankful.

Written on Wednesday, November 25, 2020

Happy Thanksgiving month.

My list of blessings and reasons to be thankful is long. But the picture says it all. Happy Thanksgiving 2020! This F-ing Year is ALMOST OVER!!!!!

There are many reasons to be thankful for this November 2020.

Thanksgiving has always been my favorite holiday. Of course, I love food. Mostly, I remember my family and how my mom and dad made the day so special.

Giving thanks every day for our blessings is a great way to live. We all have blessings. You need to stop and think about them. Blessings, like great communication, takes effort and thought.

Yes, communication takes effort and thought.

I’m not talking about, “Hey, How are you?” Good, How are you?” Then you head over to the snack table or the TV room and zone out. Watching tv and trolling on your cell phone.

Nope. That is not excellent communication.

It sounds corny and trite, but we need to talk to each other now more than ever. And you know why.

The Center’s for Disease Control has warned American’s not to gather for Thanksgiving.

That’s excellent information and great communication. That warning came a week ago.

So why are so many Americans ignoring that medical advice?

This is why we fail. I wrote this post on Wednesday, November 25, 2020.

This is from CNN’s website:

https://www.cnn.com/2020/11/25/health/us-coronavirus-wednesday/index.html

“The US reported 2,046 deaths Wednesday — the highest one-day coronavirus death toll the country has reported since early May, Johns Hopkins University data shows.

The country also hit a new daily hospitalization record, with 89,954 people currently hospitalized for Covid-19, according to the Covid Tracking Project. This is the 16th straight day that figure set a record for the pandemic.”

We are dying, we are losing jobs, and we are hungry in America.

On this Thanksgiving, we still have to look for things to be thankful for.

I’ll begin.

We have a new President and Vice President-elect.

The first woman and the first woman of color to be elected to that high office. When Kamala Harris gave her election night acceptance speech, I wept uncontrollably.

Tears of joy. My prayers were answered after all the hate, racism, and bullying we endured in the last four years.

The shock is that millions of Americans voted for this lying-criminal, Donald Trump.

Are we this nieve? Are we this racist? I have no answers.

Here is what I do know.

We are blessed that our democracy and our republic remain strong.

Even though our leaders are weak.

On the bright side, Joe Biden is a brilliant adult who has the will to bring us together.

Here is what he is doing.

President-Elect Joe Biden is surrounding himself with smart, experienced people.

The members of his cabinet are diverse and have dedicated their lives to public service. Unlike the Trump cronies, they are not out to make a fast buck and rip off the National Treasury.

The best managers I worked for surrounded themselves with smart people then they let those people do their jobs.

They don’t criticize or bully. They give you space and allow you to breathe.

Which brings us back to One-On-One. Remember this when you are working or dealing with co-workers, family, and friends this holiday season.

Be thankful you have family, friends, and good co-workers. Let them breathe.

Don’t criticize.

Don’t bully.

I’m really grumpy. I have some migraine-sinus headache.

My granddaughter is in a screaming phase. She doesn’t use her words.

When her brother picks on her, she screams.

It’s so nerve-wracking.

I’ve told the four-year-old, again and again. Use your words. Use your body language.

I say, “Put up your hand and say, please give me space. Don’t scream.”

I blame COVID. We are all trapped in the house.

But what is the alternative? Put on a mask and go for a walk. I’ll try that.

I don’t know if you are gathering this holiday season, but please try to distance. Talk to each other but don’t get physically close. Give each other space.

Put down your cell phones. Talk to each other.

If you are not going home, do the video chat and really talk about your plans for After COVID. Or what you want for Christmas.

I’m planning. I’m redesigning my website, and I’ve already moved on to 2021.

I’m going to start a weekly newsletter. I’m calling it “Just a Few Words” or “Let’s Talk.” What do you think? Will you subscribe? I’ll throw in Mexican Food recipes from a “Pinch of Mexican!”

Also, I recorded an audiobook. It’s me reading my book “Targeted by Work Bullies – Stories from Hell.”

I submitted it to audible, and they kept rejecting it for really dumb technical reasons. It was driving me crazy—a short drive. So I’m going to begin sharing each chapter here once a week. And I will post the Chapters on this website.

Here’s what I’m thankful for.

  • You. My Podcast listeners and subscribers.
  • That I don’t have Covid that is killing my fellow Americans and so many others.
  • That I have loved ones.
  • That’s I’m not hungry or homeless or jobless.

I don’t get a turkey this year. The kids want prime rib. I’ll try to force a turkey on them for Christmas.

I love you all.

Stay Safe. Talk to each other. Share the reasons you are thankful.
