Success and Happiness

Here are the steps I am taking today.

  1. New Year – Blank Slate
  2. Positive Thinking
  3. Write A To-Do List and Do It
  4. Develop Good Habits
  5. Count Your Blessings
  6. Talk to Someone You Love

Begin 2022 With A Blank Slate – Tabula Rasa

Think of 2022 as a Blank Slate. Embrace this thought. Tabula Rasa.

Tabula Rasa is Latin for Blank Slate.

“British philosopher John Locke wrote about the concept of Tabula Rasa in his Essay Concerning Human Understanding in 1690. Although the term was around long before Locke, he helped the Blank Slate term gain popularity.”

The Greek philosopher Aristotle taught his students that all babies are born with minds that are essentially blank slates.

All negative thinking, bad habits, and the inability to talk to each other result from someone scribbling on our blank slate.

Let’s strive to erase the nasty scribblings and cling to the good ones.

Think Positive Thoughts – Success Follows

In 1952, the year I was born, Norman Vincent Peale wrote “The Power of Positive Thinking.” I’m NOT recommending you read the book. But I am recommending two actions that Peale, a minister, preached.

  1. Believe in yourself and in everything you do
  2. Be kind to yourself

If we do these two things, think about how happy we will be.

In the last six months, I often find myself conducting an interview and say, things like, I’ll write this story today and post it, but I have very few subscribers. What the hell? I’m down because I don’t have many subscribers for my podcast or videos.

I will stop with the negativity. I believe in my work. And criticizing myself to others is NOT Being kind to myself.

The To-Do List

I believe in the List. The List helps you stay on point; you can’t say, oh, I forgot. Cause it’s there on the List.

Make your list and work your way down. As a way to share all personal thoughts is my first 2022 list.

  1. Work every day – write, post, shoot or create.
  2. Finish Fade To Black (my novel – a thriller)
  3. Clean up and delete all old content on Gloria Moraga.com
  4. Post short videos on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube every day!
  5. Push for Subs.

Develop Good Habits – Definitely Lead to Happiness

All the diet books say stick to it for 21 days when dieting. Three weeks is all you need to develop good food habits. It’s worked for me. If I still to my diet for that long, I begin seeing results. I look and feel lighter and thinner. My motivation soars. I lose weight.

Experts say 21 days is an excellent estimate for easy habits. Wait! What?

The Lally “Habit” Study-Research

Yep now, according to Phillippa Lally, a health psychology researcher at University College London, it takes anywhere from eighteen to 254 days for people to form a new habit!!!

Here is my response to this new information.

Whatever! It’s not going to stop me from trying.

Count your Blessings

This is a habit we all need to develop. I don’t care how long it takes. Just try to begin every day with a thank you for all the good things in your life. There are there. Just think about it.

Communicate

I saved the best for last. Communicate. Talk to each other. Listen.

Talk to someone you love. Talk to someone you like. Somebody who makes you feel good about yourself or life.

Would you please work on talking with people you disagree with? Practice tolerance and compromise.

We’ve got to start talking and stop hating.

We are going to kick ass in 2022. Stay focused. The first thing I want you to do is Subscribe!! Follow me. Share my stories.

Read my content on my website!! Peace. Happy New Year, People!
