Will The Supreme Court Shoot Down Student Loan Forgiveness
The United States Supreme Court heard two cases today on The Biden Administrations Student Loan Forgiveness program.
Biden Versus Nebraska, et al. and The Department of Education v. Myra Brown. ET AL.
At stake: $400 billion in student debt set to be forgiven by President Biden’s Department of Education. Up to 40 million Americans could see up to 20 thousand dollars of student loans canceled.
Here’s who brought the two suits.
Biden v Nebraska et al. was brought by six Republican-led states that argue that the Department of Education is exceeding its authority to forgive this debt. The states are Nebraska, Missouri, Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas, and South Carolina,
Two individual borrowers brought the other lawsuit. Myra Brown and Alexander Taylor. Brown has $17,000 in private student loan debt. Taylor has $25,000 in loan debt.
They do not qualify for the Biden Student Debt Forgiveness Program. They say this is Unfair!
Their suit is supported by a conservative group called “Job Creators Network Foundation,” a conservative legal group founded by the former chairman of Home Depot.
