So Many Reasons For Living
Summer 2021 - Aryah at The Monterey Bay Aquarium
I have so many reasons for LIVING. Too many to name. And that is why, the second I heard that the COVID boosters were approved, I jumped onto MyChart and emailed my doctor.
Patience is a Virtue
It took a while; I finally got the appointment after waiting a month.
The night before my appointment, I had trouble sleeping. Not because I was nervous about getting the shot, but because I didn’t want to oversleep and miss my appointment.
Reasons For Living
I have many reasons for being anxious about getting my booster. I could list them and explain my allegiance to Dr. Fauci and medical science.
But those reasons are not wholly accurate.
The genuine reason I got my booster is purely selfish. I don’t want to die.
I have a fear of suffocating.
I am a tad claustrophobic as well. I don’t like tight spaces.
I like to sit at the end of the aisle at the movies and in church.
I watched my father when he was near the end of his time on earth, and he struggled to breathe.
I watched my mother struggle with cancer. She had drugs to ease the pain.
There was nothing they could do to help dad breathe easier.
Once, he fell, and when I arrived at the hospital, he was on a breathing machine, a tube down his throat. We locked eyes; he pleaded with me. He rattled the hospital bed rail violently. He wanted the tube out of his throat.
Watching My Father On A Respirator
I argued and pleaded with staff; we had to get approval from the doctor. The tube finally came out. He said I don’t ever want that in my throat again.
I Want to Die Quietly in My Sleep – Not With a Tube Down My Throat
This is a short post. Because rather than write, I’m going to answer my question with pictures and short videos, because I am a video producer after all.
They are the genuine, honest reasons I got the booster why I embrace science.
About a week after I got my booster, I headed to southern California to celebrate the birthday of one of my movie buddies.
He is an extraordinary young man. It was a quick trip.
And after locking myself away for almost two years to stay safe, I revel in the freedoms once taken for granted. Enjoy the video and pictures. Talk to each other. Eat with friends and loved ones. Enjoy life. BREATHE. Cause you can. And get your fricking Vaccinations.
AND WEAR A MASK!
The life you save may be mine.
