The title of this episode of Gloria Moraga – One-On-One says it all. 2021 has been a hell of a year, and it’s only January.

A woman I love very much, my Auntie Gloria, died yesterday; and today would have been my mother’s birthday, but she died decades ago of cancer. And I miss her every day!

So, of all the topics and communication issues discussed in this podcast, my most important message is to talk to your loved ones and tell them, “I love You!”

My U.S. Capitol, Hate, Racism, Lies, Communication, and Love

Hi Podcast People. It is Monday, January 12, 2021. We are only into the year 12 days. Not even for two weeks, and I am exhausted. How about you? I’m upset. I may ramble a little. I’m Gloria Moraga. Please subscribe to my podcast and to my YouTube Channels.

This is what is going on here in the United States of America.

The Insurgence.

Our lunatic Mad-man of a President incited some crazy terrorists, insurgents to storm my beloved Capitol of the United States of America.

I worked there for 10 years—the best years of my life. And I just wept when this happened. It was as if they were attacking me personally. That’s how bad I felt.

Five people died. Many more lives were at stake. The insurgents, terrorists, traitors urinated and defecated in the halls and rooms of that beautiful building that stand on that Hill and are a bright shining beacon for democracy and freedom.

Racism, Violence. Civics Lessons, No Manners

When they were storming into the building, breaking windows, and beating Capitol Police, I heard one man scream, “This is our building.”

No, sir, it is not. It is America’s building. It stands for law and order and the triumph of law over tyranny.

Manners

If it was your house or your building, would you break the windows to get in? Would you urinate and defecate on the floors? No, you would respect your home. Or maybe you don’t.

Civics

Clearly, you know nothing about Civics. Presidential Elections in the United States are the jurisdiction of the States.

If you read or if you really knew anything about this country, you would know this. But you are ignorant. And you have no manners. And you don’t listen to your Mama. What does your Mama say, “Get your feet off the furniture!” You didn’t listen to your Mama, did you?

Elections are the responsibility of individual States. This is a state’s rights issue.  NOT a federal government. The election was certified by every State. When the President began lying about the stolen election, he and his lawyers filed Court Challenges in the STATES. They were dismissed. No proof of election fraud. It was not stolen. The Supreme Court, which is dominated by Conservatives, confirmed the State Courts decisions. The election was not stolen. Trump is a loser!

Stupid Racists

To think that stopping Vice President Pence or Congress from certifying the election would do anything but cause bloodshed and anarchy is madness.

The insurgents are, to put it bluntly, white racists, supremacists. Crazy, Looney. Sent to kill and destroy by a madman, some people think he is the greatest President ever. You are wrong. This is not an opinion.

History Will Confirm

In fact, he is the worst President ever in the history of the United States. He has divided us with lies and misinformation.

That is the fact. Trump is a liar, a criminal, a racist, and a fraud. And a sore loser. A bully who had mocked disabled people and laughed about attacking women, he’s joked about grabbing women’s private parts. Of all these names I’m calling him, lying and repeating the lies are among the worst things he has done to this country. That people believe him and repeat the lies is despicable.

COVID

Donald Trump is a mass murderer. Thousands of Americans are dying because of his inaction on the COVID pandemic. Making the wearing a mask a macho, bullshit, political statement is insanity. His political opinion on masks is a travesty. Denying science is dumb and counter-productive. And not wearing a mask is Rude. Impolite. Mean. And Dangerous.

COMMUNICATION

Gloria Moraga’s One-On-One

This podcast, my blog, and videos are all about Communication. One-On-On Communication, Talking to each other. Listening to each other. You know. We are all the same. Deep down, as humans, we have a connection. Communication binds us. Talking to each other can solve all of our problems. We learn we are not that different by talking to each other and getting to know each other. Find common ground.

But lately, all we do is scream at each other. The White Supremacists yell at politicians who are trying to control that out of control president. Lawmakers are walking through the airport, and these people scream at them.

The founders of this country established our system with checks and balances. They did this to stop someone like Trump from becoming a dictator. We are a democracy. A republic. He lost the election. Get over it—majority rules. Move on.

STOP SCREAMING

Don’t scream. Move on. Yelling is not the way to communicate.

And I wonder. When did our society dissolve down to this?

You disagree with someone. Talk to them. Don’t scream. Be calm. Face them.

We are not the quote, “Other.” We are the “Same.”

We are in a crisis. A horrible communicator, an evil man, caused much of it.

Now is as good a time as any to segue into my obsession with Hitler. And his Minister of Propaganda, Goebbels,

Propaganda

Sound familiar. Trump has done this. Through Twitter, social media, his puppets in the congress, and his cabinet. And now his racist supporters.

He began criticizing the press even before he was running for President. But stepped up his campaign when he was a candidate and when he was President.

Here is the definition of white supremacist  Quote, “a person who believes that the white race is inherently superior to other races and those white people should have control over people of different races.”

Nazis Killed the Disabled First

I’m disabled. If this man was allowed to hold power or a coup occurred in 2021, the U.S., like Germany in the 1930s. I would be one of the first groups of people to be rounded up and killed.

Think it’s okay to do nothing about COVID because most people dying are elderly, black or brown, or patients with pre-existing conditions. The Nazis and white supremacists don’t care about us, so they don’t wear masks.

How afraid am I? Very. And nothing the government is doing now is making me feel better.

Crisis Communications

Here’s another communication area we need to discuss. Crisis Communication.

When there is a crisis, Communication is the second most crucial element of Crisis Management. I say second because the first item is Safety. After Safety, it is essential to communicate that everybody is safe.

Well, guess what happened in America this past week. From last Wednesday, January 6, 2021, there is no major news conference or press briefing to address today’s nation. NOTHING.

Only a scattering of comments on CNN and Twitter, and social media.

Today, finally, I Tweeted this. The FBI held a media availability. It was short and limited. But it was something. I had a million questions for them. Only a few reporters were able to ask questions. It was pitiful.

Do I Feel Safe?

NO.

It’s Monday, January 12, 2021. I’ve been glued to CNN since Wednesday. It’s not right.

Love And Death – I Am Her Namesake.

Today. At 5, I get a text. It is from my Cousin Bob. I grew up near Bob. His mom and my mom were sisters. They were close. As close as I am with my Sis. When my mom was at work or not available, Aunt Gloria was there for me. And her family. I vacationed with them. We would go to the beach. It was a rare treat for me because our family vacations were hell. That’s another podcast.

The text read, “I have bad news; my mom, Aunt Gloria, passed away today at noon due to a brain aneurysm.”

My beautiful much loved Aunt Gloria, I am her namesake, Gloria Hill is gone. I sobbed for a long time.

When I calm down, I call my sister. I tell her. We cry together on the phone. I haven’t visited my sister because of COVID. I miss her.

I need her. I cry some more.

We all die. And I think of all the people who have died unnecessarily this last year.

We had plans to visit. We had planned to shoot another “Pinch of Mexican” cooking video, but we didn’t because we didn’t want to spread the virus.

My mind is a rush of random thoughts. She is gone. Without her in the world, life is a little less bright.

My Aunt Gloria was beautiful. And my next through. I’m glad she didn’t suffer. In her late 80’s, I know, she had a great life. She was loved by her husband, by her sisters and brothers, by her children, and grandchildren. And her nieces. Me for sure and my Sis.

My Final Thoughts To You, My Dears, Is To Tell Those You Love That You Love Them.

Be kind. Try to talk to people. Even people you disagree with. If you are having a crisis, communicate. More is better than less.
