Recall Candidates – A List of Potential Governors

Now that Labor Day Weekend is over, it’s time to focus on California’s Special Recall Election and examine the list of candidates who want to be Governor.

But when you look at the long, long list of potential candidates, do your eyes get blurry?

Simple Easy Facts on the Recall Election

First things first, in case you’ve missed previous posts or videos. Here’s what’s happening in a week.

“If you vote NO on the Recall of Governor Gavin Newsom. You can leave the other side of the ballot blank.

Or you can vote for one of the candidates listed on page two, “Just in Case.”

If you vote YES because you want to get rid of Newsom, do you have a qualified candidate in mind?

Top CA Gubernatorial Candidates According to Polls, Pundits, and Me

Here is some information on the most viable candidates. 

When I say the viable, I mean the ones with the most experience, who are the most likely to be elected if Governor Newsom is Recalled.

As you can read, these Candidates are leading in some polls, and they have political or solid work experience.

Nine Democrats – There Could Have Been More But…

According to The Los Angeles Times, there were many more Democrats who wouldn’t mind being Governor, but Governor Newsom – and Friends persuaded them to sit this one out.

So, there are 9 democrats on the Recall Ballot.

Here is a shortlist. And a quick description.

Kevin Paffrath is a quote: “Youtube influencer,” according to SFist.com.

A SurveyUSA poll,  commissioned by KABC and the San Diego Union-Tribune, lists Paffrath as the top candidate. And here is a link to his website, which has many, many videos. No surprise there.

Jacqueline McGowan is a Cannabis Policy Advisor

If you are wondering what a Cannabis Policy Advisor does? She works to convince legislators to support Marijuana reform. Jackie McGowan is a former stockbroker but has been a cannabis lobbyist since 2014. 

Dr. Brandon Ross is an Attorney and a Physician.

According to SFist.com, “if Newsom gets recalled, and you want to see him replaced by someone who would just do exactly what Gavin Newsom is doing, Dr. Brendan Ross is your guy.”

He’s a doctor AND a lawyer. Wow. His supporters and website say he knows what to do to help us get through the COVID Crisis.

Too Many Republicans to Count

If you wait until election day to vote and don’t study your ballot, all the names on the Recall Candidate page could make you a little dizzy.

There were 46 the last time I counted. But some of the top candidates stopped campaigning or dropped out even though their names are still on the ballot.

According to the Los Angeles Times, there is a list of the four most prominent Republicans who are still campaigning to replace Newsom.

Former San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer. The 54-year-old was the frontrunner at one point, but the winds have shifted. Here is the link to his very comprehensive website.

What I like about his website, he provides downloads of his official photos.

EVERYBODY needs to do that.

Businessman John Cox is a 65-year-old multimillionaire. According to numerous articles, Cox made his fortune in real estate, investments, and property management. He’s spent millions of dollars running for Governor before this election, and he has not succeeded. Yet?

Caitlyn Jenner is the very famous Olympic decathlete turned reality TV star. Jenner is a transgender woman and a lifelong Republican.

I spent considerable time looking for a free, non-copyrighted photo of Ms. Jenner. I was planning on doing a little photo essay. But I did not find one. Maybe I just missed it. TV stars need to help us out.

Larry Elder is a nationally syndicated conservative radio host, lawyer, and writer. Because I’m a media lover, I have, in the past, regularly listen to him on the radio.

No more. He’s made many offensive remarks about women. I won’t repeat them. But they are wrong and dumb. I won’t miss NOT listening to him ever again. yes, I used two Double-Negatives. I’m not listening to him again.

Finally, these top Republican Recall candidates have not worked to woe moderate voters, Democratic, Republican or Independent. Instead, they are working on getting the Trump Voters to like them. So they are leaning further right or traveling far into “Crazy-Land.”

So Finally, these words from brilliant LA Times political Columnist George Skelton, “The math is simple — California Republicans probably won’t pull off Newsom recall.”
